Maths Reasoning

The 11 plus maths paper tests numerical reasoning well beyond the primary curriculum, requiring speed and accuracy across a wide range of topics:

• Number, place value, fractions, decimals and percentages
• Speed, distance and time problems; ratio and proportion

• Number sequences, algebra and problem-solving under timed conditions

English Comprehension & Verbal Reasoning

Strong literacy skills are essential for both the English comprehension paper and the verbal reasoning paper found in many 11 plus exams:

• Reading inference, deduction and authorial intent from unseen passages
• Vocabulary: synonyms, antonyms, word meanings in context
