- Comparing, ordering and representing numbers on a number line
- Addition and subtraction within 100 using mental and written methods
- Introduction to multiplication and division using 2, 5 and 10 times tables
Fractions & Measures
Children begin exploring part-whole relationships and real-world measurement:
- Recognising halves, quarters and thirds of shapes and quantities
- Measuring length, mass, capacity and temperature with standard units
- Telling the time to the hour, half hour and quarter hour
- Recognising and using coins and notes; solving simple money problems
Geometry & Data
Spatial awareness and early data handling complete the KS1 programme:
- Naming and describing properties of 2-D shapes (e.g. circle, triangle, rectangle)
- Naming and sorting 3-D shapes (e.g. cube, sphere, cylinder)
- Describing position and direction using everyday language
- Reading and constructing simple tally charts, pictograms and block diagrams
